From innovative beginnings to global impact

Our journey began in the 1980s with the development of DRANCO technology, an advanced biotechnological process for an environmentally friendly and cost-effective treatment of organics.Through close collaboration with Ghent University and years of dedicated R&D, our patented methodology became a trusted solution for anaerobic digestion of solid waste
around the globe.

1983

Dry continuous digestion (DRANCO) technology developed at UGent.

1984

Construction of the 1st DRANCO demonstration plant for MSW digestion.

1988

Creation of Organic Waste Systems nv (OWS), bundling experience in AD of solid and semisolid organics, marketing DRANCO technology and lab testing services.

1991

Start of the 1st full-scale DRANCO plant on biowaste in Brecht. Creation of Dranco nv for the operation of the Brecht I plant.

1993

Start of DRANCO's first plant abroad, located in Salzburg, Austria.

1997

First full-scale DRANCO plant on residual municipal solid waste.

2005

DRANCO's first plant in Asia is operational in South Korea.

2006

Launch of the first continuous dry digestion plant for energy crops: DRANCO-FARM.

2013

Construction startup for the first plant making high quality compost from MSW by means of the SORDISEP process.

2021

Creation of DRANCO nv, bundling all biogas-related business.

2022

Incorporation of DRANCO Inc.

2023

Aquisition of DRANCO nv by Indaver.

2025

Inauguration of our newly expanded laboratory, carrying forward a legacy transitioned from OWS.
