Quite the build.
Put together in three large sections, the DRANCO reactor construction was quite the sight in Hengelo on a sunny summer Saturday in 2010. With a majestic crane, a total of 200 tons was lifted into place as the sections were carefully positioned.
The reactor vessel has a diameter of 15 meters and stands 30 meters high. The biogas produced in the digester is converted to electricity by gas engines. In doing so, Twence ensures optimal use of all the energy contained in the biogas. The remaining material from the digestion process is further processed in the existing composting facility to produce high‑quality compost.
