A unit with a view.
Set in the beautiful landscape of Mirandela, the socalled "mechanical and biological treatment unit", set on a surface of approximately 29.000 m², separates incoming municipal waste into three streams: organic material, recyclable fractions, and residual rejects. The organic portion undergoes anaerobic digestion followed by composting, producing renewable biogas and quality compost, while recyclable materials such as metals, glass, cardboard, plastics, and batteries are recovered and sent for processing. Only the inert, non‑recoverable fraction is sent to landfill, minimizing biodegradable waste disposal and maximizing material and energy recovery for the client, Residuos do Nordeste.
