Chagny overview

Ecocéa is a waste treatment facility designed, built, and operated by TIRU, commissioned in January 2015, with a strong focus on operational flexibility and future development.
It is the first facility in France to inject purified biomethane directly into the high-pressure natural gas transport network.
The plant treats up to 73,000 tonnes of household waste and 8,000 tonnes of green waste per year using mechanical-biological treatment, anaerobic digestion, and composting.
Organic recovery enables the production of 27,000 tonnes of compost compliant with the NF U 44-051 standard.
Energy recovery results in the injection of 2.6 million Nm³ of biomethane per year into the gas network.
The overall diversion rate is greater than 50%.
