In January 2017, Kurita Water Industries announced that its KURITA DRANCO PROCESS® was selected for a NEDO-supported biomass energy demonstration project.
The project was carried out jointly with Fuji Clean and aims to promote regional self-sufficiency through effective biomass energy use.
The plant processes approximately 76 tonnes of waste per day, including food waste, paper waste, organic residues, and organic sludge, using high-efficiency sorting and dry methane fermentation.
Back in 2017, the site was the largest single-tank vertical dry anaerobic digestion facility in Japan. The recovered biogas is used for power and heat generation, contributing to waste reduction, recycling, and renewable energy production.
Through this project, Kurita aims to accelerate the adoption of biomass energy and contribute to a more sustainable, low-carbon society.
